A beautiful day in Westminster

Every month I go to Smith Square in Westminster two or three times for meetings. Today on my walk back from there to Westminster tube I took these few pictures to show how beautiful it was today and how glorious the buildings are.

From the gardens again, looking across Millbank, down Dean Stanley Street, to Smith Square:

Across the gardens, across the Thames (which is behind that wall) to the Palace of Lambeth (I think it’s the old building to the very right of the picture!) official residence of the Most Rev Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, senior bishop in the Church of England and symbolic head of the worldwide Anglican Communion. (I am C of E, though not a regular church goer, but I know some people who read the blog are and would find this interesting.)

From Millbank across to Westminster Abbey, site of so many famous events, with the Jewel Tower, the oldest part of the Palace of Westminster, dating from 1365, in the left foreground; the Abbey is the white building with a flag behind that; the church to the right is St Margaret’s, which I think is Westminster’s parish church.
