FO: First Christmas Knit ’15

Thanks to a little insomnia I finished the Fairisle hat last night. The crown was knitted in an improvised fashion with a 5mm circular, 4.5mm circular and 4mm DPNs after I discovered I had failed to bring 5mm DPNs with me… It’s worked fine. 😄

The Cascade 220 is really lovely to work with and I’m really glad I bought what the pattern asked for and didn’t substitute. Definitely recommended to anyone from the UK needing a worsted/ aran weight yarn.

And I still have quite a lot left so I will have to think what to make with it!
My niece just modelled the hat for me:

It’s an adult sized slouchy so I’m going to put a big white pompom or maybe a tassle on it.

This is part of the annual just-before-Christmas competition I have with my family and our friends (this year the challenge item is knitted Christmas hats – last year it was knitted wreathes) and this is my decoy hat. In other words, not my *actual* entry but the one I want my Mum to think is. She’s won for the last two years…  The other one I want to make is MUCH sillier. Oh yes.
