Hats

I’ve finally come to terms with the inescapable fact that I just love knitting hats. I don’t love knitting socks like other people do; I can knit socks but it just doesn’t float my boat like other kinds of knitting does.

Lang Yarns Mille Colori baby held double:

A hat is a very achievable project; it’s a very portable project and if you’re a bit butterfly minded about your crafting its ideal.

Rowan felted Tweed:

And I am butterfly minded about my crafting. I’m not like that at work or in other areas of my life, but this is my hobby and that has to be enjoyable, with no imposed deadlines or conditions. I am free to make what I want when I want.

Scheepjes alpaca lace held triple:

Most of the photos I’m putting up are versions of the Violet Waffles pattern. This is a very forgiving beanie pattern available on Ravelry. All of these are for my colleagues and they have all been made in 2018.

There is a fourth finished one but I didn’t take a picture. Yarn is Lang Yarns Mille Colori held double with a cerise mohair lace from The Knitting Goddess. This is it in progress!

I have finished a fifth hat but in a much simpler stocking stitch pattern for another colleague:

That purple yarn is a glorious Countess Ablaze DK.

And my sixth hat for 2018 is on the needles: an improvised hat for my sister to match a shawl and cardigan she owns. This time in Rowan felted tweed and kidsilk haze.
